Y'all's. Your bathroom scale texted me asking for reinforcements.
So have we got the solution to keep you motivated and (vaguely) fit this winter while you're otherwise stuffing your face with seconds of figgy pudding: The Ride, Rabble, and Babble Winter Party Games! The objectives of the RRB Winter Party Games are simple:
Motivate you to ride your bike (or trainer, or Pelo, or whatever) in the winter months
Create opportunities for informal social gatherings (to talk about bikes, of course)
Generate visibility for PPP and our supporters (CBC, Europa, Steam Bell, etc.).
The rules are simple:
Collect points by completing eligible activities every week
Complete your activities every week by 6pm Sunday.
The eligible activities scheme is a little more complicated: You can earn RIDE points in the following ways:
Ride your bike lots. Using our Strava club, the "top 5" riders on the weekly club leaderboard for mileage will receive points... 2 points for the weekly leader, 1 point for places 2 - 5.
Organize and lead a group ride with at least 3 other PartyPacers (2 points). The ride should be announced at least 3 days in advance via Strava, email, or text.
Participate in a group ride organized by PPP or Carytown Bicycle Co. (1 point).
You can earn RABBLE points in the following ways:
2 points for organizing a social event with at least 3 other PartyPacers. This can be anything... beers & snacks at a bar/ restaurant, etc. The event should be announced at least 5 days in advance via Strava, email, or text.
1 point for attending a PPP organized event.
Whether organizing or attending, y'all will need to let me know about it if I'm not there/ involved (a text or email is fine).
You can earn BABBLE points in the following ways:
You can earn 1 point by posting PPP-related content on Facebook, Insta, or Strava... photos, a ride recap, whatever. Be sure to @ PPP and any of our supporters (CBC, Steam Bell, Europa Crust, Boomer Insurance, G2 Ortho, A.M. Mahler).
You can do up to two posts per week for a total of 2 points per week.
Seem confusing? Daunting? Feel like you might not be riding enough to be a contender? Think again! Here's a tale of two PartyPacers...
Matty Bee rides lots for the week of Dec. 6. He tops the leaderboard, organizes a well-attended ride around the mean streets of Brandermill, and turns out for the CBC saturday gravel ride at PSP. But Matty is a social media derelict and shut-in who skips out on pizza & beers at Sergio's with Andy, Jeff, Thom, and DeeDee. Matty Bee has earned 5 points for the week!
Jeff Laine has nearly given up on bikes. His paltry TrainerRoad efforts land him in the 6th spot on the leaderboard. But Jeff organized the PPP outing at Sergio's (that Matty skipped) and met up for even more beers at Steam Bell for a gathering put together by Trey. He also Insta'd a sweet shot of his gams on the trainer and a selfie with the gang while at Sergio's (tagging PPP in both). The BreadMan has earned 5 points for the week!
The Winter Party Games will begin on MONDAY, DEC. 6 and the points will be tabulated and posted to this spreadsheet on Sunday evenings, starting Dec. 12. The Party Games will run through February 20 (MonsterCross Day, for all who celebrate).
"Will there be prizes" you ask? Of course! I'm still working all that out.
Stay tuned... and... Let the Winter Party Games begin!
